The “10 Things I Hate About You” premiere broke ABC Family records last July and clearly has a lot of potential. Ratings have not been as strong as you would like to see, but ABC Family shows in general suffer from a lack of availability on many cable and satellite packages that makes it difficult for any ABC Family shows to quickly build a large fan base. Many people who would like to watch the series on TV are instead turning to services like iTunes to watch the show. If the series is renewed, this trend would continue and both revenues and ratings would increase. It is also worth noting that Disney has neglected many cross-promotional opportunities. Series lead Meaghan Martin is also a lead character in the DCOM Camp Rock 2. There have been many promos for CR2 featuring the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato, but not once have we seen Meaghan promoting either on Disney Channel. The company made the investment in season one, and then dropped the ball in promoting it. I implore you to renew the show for a second season.
